A diagnosis of pancreatic cancer often leaves people shocked and bewildered. The quickness in pace from diagnosis to treatment can be challenging when balancing other demands such as work, family, friends or study.
Accessing support and information can help alleviate anxiety and make it easier to get through a challenging time. Our knowledgeable and understanding presenters will talk about:

Graham is a lawyer with Social Security Rights in Victoria and was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in February 2015. Since 2007, Graham has been affected by several different cancers, including brain, lung and liver cancer. He will reflect on his own journey and provide others with advice for coping with cancer.
Belinda is a Consultant Medical Oncologist at the Northern & Royal Melbourne Hospitals and the Hemstritch Centenary Research Fellow at the Walter & Eliza Hall Institute of Medical Research (WEHI). Dr Lee now leads the pancreatic cancer initiative PURPLE (Pancreatic cancer – Understanding Routine Practice & Lifting End results). This is an Australia-wide pancreatic cancer translational effort including research in circulating tumour DNA (ctDNA), genomic profiling and pancreatic organoid research.
Belinda has worked as a clinical dietitian for over 10 years, many of these at Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre with patients who have cancers of the upper gastrointestinal tract, including pancreatic cancer. She is passionate about improving the lives of cancer patients’ and works at achieving this on a daily basis. Belinda is involved in a number of projects addressing malnutrition in the oncology setting.
Rebecca is a Registered Nurse who currently works in private practice as well as being a Clinical Nurse Specialist at Warringal Private Hospital. Rebecca has recently joined the team at Austin Health as the Familial Pancreatic Screening Program Co-ordinator, which is run in conjunction with the Garvan Institute in Sydney. She is a support nurse for Pancare Foundation assisting patients and their families diagnosed with pancreatic and other upper gastrointestinal cancers.
