Our next PanSupport Online Patient & Carer Support Group will feature specialist presenter, Ms Antonia Cadell, the recipient of Pancare’s 2021 Phil Sly Research Scholarship.
Antonia will discuss her research identifying and characterising a new target and potential therapy for pancreatic cancer.
C-Jun N-terminal kinase (JNK) is a cell signaling molecule that controls cell death and inflammation, among other cellular processes. It is well known that JNK can go wrong in cancer, but as it has a role in both cancer promotion and suppression it is difficult to target. Antonia’s project aims to establish the significance of JNK in pancreatic cancer and establish if it can be targeted by inhibitors to control its tumor promoting function whilst not effecting its tumor suppressive function.
