Pancreatic Cancer Urine Test Shows Potential
Pancare welcomes UK research about a simple urine test that could detect pancreatic cancer much earlier. An effective screening tool that can identify the presence of “early” pancreatic cancer may offer patients a better chance of cure with surgery and would represent an advance in the management of pancreatic cancer.
Each year pancreatic cancer is responsible for the deaths of thousands of Australians, with very few patients achieving cure following diagnosis. We urgently need improved drug therapies for patients and ways of detecting and treating patients with “pre-cancerous tumours” that are at high risk of developing into pancreatic cancer.
