Record breaking Romae
Romae Muggleton began fundraising in November to mark Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month with the goal to ‘do something’ to help raise money in honor of her daughter Michelle, who she lost to pancreatic cancer 12 months ago. Her fund raising started as a meat raffle, but with the support of the Wingham and Taree community, it has resulted in almost $17,000 raised.
Michelle’s friends stepped up to help Romae and soon a high tea, auction, morning tea and raffle was organised as well as generous donations from local businesses, making this the largest amount ever raised by a community member for the Pancare Foundation.
“I feel humbled and so proud,” said Romae. Pancare International Ambassador, Nelson Aspen, who is known for his insider showbiz knowledge and cutting edge views on what’s hot and what’s not, has turned his attention to raising awareness of the little known and devastating killer.
He filmed a short video dedicated to Romae and her friends to thank them on behalf of Pancare, “it’s people and communities like Romae’s that continue to inspire me to make a difference and do whatever I can to change the outlook for people affected by the ‘unfashionable cancer’, said Nelson.
Romae’s plan is to continue to honour Michelle’s wish each November by raising more awareness and fundraising for the fight to cure pancreatic cancer.
