Pancreatic Cancer Roadmap Projects

The National Pancreatic Cancer Roadmap, developed by Cancer Australia, aims to improve outcomes and survival rates for Australians diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.

The University of Queensland was commissioned by Cancer Australia to create resources, in collaboration with key stakeholders, in the key areas of early detection and early diagnosis of pancreatic cancer.

• Improving early recognition of signs and symptoms of pancreatic cancer and understanding of appropriate initial investigations if pancreatic cancer is suspected.

• Improving the identification of people at genetically high risk of pancreatic cancer for targeted surveillance.

The University of Melbourne was commissioned by Cancer Australia to create resources, in collaboration with key stakeholders, in the key areas of timely referral to pain management and early referral to palliative care for people with pancreatic cancer.

• A standardised pathway for timely referral (rapid access model) to specialist pain management which includes pain needs assessment tools, clinical guidance and patient information.

• A standardised pathway for early referral to palliative care which includes clinical guidance.
